On opening any page of the Sacred Guru Granth Ji, I feel as if I am standing in the midst of an endless mine, that is completely covered with priceless Gems. These Gems defy description. Each one is more beautiful than the other. I am bedazzled and overwhelmed by their beauty and luster. Blinded by their brilliance, I do not know their true worth for I just happened to stumble upon my Father’s wealth. I had always heard that my Father is wealthy beyond words.
I am in awe and wonder at His Treasure and there is so much more where this comes from. Overcome with joy at my good fortune I am standing dazed and helpless in this mine, not knowing what to do next.
I keep staring at my Fathers wealth and wish to pick up all the Gems and stuff them into my pockets... But I find that I have no pockets nor any other means of keeping them. My hands are too small. I do not know which Gem to pick up and which one to leave... they are countless, priceless and exquisite beyond my grandest dreams. Every Word of this Sacred Treasure is wrapped in Divine Love. As I utter the beautiful Baani, I pause to savor its resonance and feel so blessed that my Father has bestowed such a gift upon these frail hands and untrained mind.
These Gems reflect the Truth that the Soul has always known. This sense of recognition brings tears of love with speechless awe and boundless gratitude.
I ask my Father: “Why have You kept me away from Your Wealth for so long? What is Yours is mine by virtue of the fact that I am Your child; I am heir to Your wealth.
O Father now that You have shown me this , tell me how to relish Your gift.. My capacity is so limited. I have no means of holding this wealth... Deepen my heart,
expand my perception so that I am able to honor and cherish Your Gift... O Father..Of
what use is this wealth if I cannot relish it... hold me back no more... I am ready to
partake of this treasure that You placed in my destiny from the start.
Waheguru, what You have concealed in Your Treasure House of Gurbani is more precious than anything I have known in this life.
Grant me the Love and intuition to be worthy of Your Gift.”
“Dharan suvannee kharh rattan jarhaavee har prem purakh man vuthaa.
Sabhay kaaj suhaylraythee-ay gur Naanaksatgur tuthaa”
A heart where the Love of the Lord abides is like the beautiful earth, where the grass is adorned with Gems. All of one’s affairs are easily resolved,
O Nanak, when the Guru, the True Guru is pleased.
