Before I sit down to recite the Ambrosial Sukhmani Sahib my mind please take note of the following points:

Let me not take this time for granted. I am privileged to be here. During the next couple of hours I shall make a conscious effort to focus my mind on the wonderful message of Sukhmani, the fountain of eternal joy. Where souls are gathered in His Name, He is surely present and I shall find Him seated directly across from me. His gracious eyes are upon me.

Each time this mind waivers, I shall bring it back to His Holy Presence. I will try my best not to dwell on the events of the day, think trivial thoughts and wonder what I may say to all these ladies after the Paath. My mind may think that this is a long and it may get tired of sitting. I shall banish such selfish thoughts and devote these two hours for Waheguru. I shall not allow my mind make excuses for its fickleness. As soon as the last Astapadi is over, I shall remember not to fumble about to put away the Gutka or reach for my purse or cell-phone. This time is highly charged with the Divine energy; I shall not dilute it nor disturb others who may be savoring this rare essence. At this time I shall consciously try to "breath in" God and feel His presence. Internally I shall bow down to every person present in the room regardless of my differences.

I see Waheguru present in each one, starting with myself. I shall not engage in small talk, instead prolong the peace of the Sukhmani in the company of fellow seekers. I am so blessed to be here, even if I do not understand all the meanings or pronounce the words correctly. God understands and smiles at me. My mind please let me savor the flavor of these blessed moments. Help me Waheguru. On my own I can do nothing, please hold my hand and come sit beside me.

"Antar hoi giyaan pargaas, os asthaan ka nahee binaas.

Man tan Naam ratey ek rang, sadaa bas eh Paarbrahm ka i sang."

The association with holy congregation and sacred places brings out inner enlightenment that takes the human mind to the state of stability. That state is indestructible. The mind and body gets immersed in the savor of Waheguru's Naam, then he stays permanently in the domain of Akaalpurkh.
